Fire Door Survey
Expert Fire Door Surveys
Fire door inspections from WGP Maintenance are fully comprehensive.

Our experience shows that most third-party fire door inspections will examine specific elements of the doors to provide a compliance report only.
This level of inspection is rarely sufficient to allow for an all-inclusive report and rarer again to allow for accurate costing of the remedial repairs required. The absence of this key information is the primary cause for inaccurate assessment and ineffective delivery, resulting in wasted time, budget overspend and non-compliant delivery of repairs.
A fire door survey is one of the critical parts of our fire protection process. Following on from your initial consultation with us, we will work with you to ensure the assessment of the building will consider the level of the pre-existing fire safety measures and the areas in which they can be improved. This assessment will also observe information on the compartmentalisation layout within the building to determine the optimal approach for remediation of the doors within these areas and inform the next step of our process.
All of the information gathered during the fire door inspection allows our team to create a fire door survey report detailing all of the elements surveyed and a repair matrix outlining the needs of the building to bring it into compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Fire Door Survey FAQs
What kind of premises do you provide fire door surveys for?
At WGP Maintenance, we provide comprehensive fire door inspections for a complete range of commercial properties and premises across the South West, including but not limited to hotels, hospitals and healthcare premises, offices, care homes and retirement villages, holiday parks, hospitality businesses and student accommodation.
What does a fire door Inspection cover?
Our BM Trada certified fire door inspectors follow a fire door survey checklist containing approximately 78 items per door. This includes the door signage, hinges, hardware, latches, locks, glass and/or vision panels, seals, gaps, door condition and frames.
How long does a fire door Inspection take?
The time it takes to complete a fire door inspection will depend on the number of doors being surveyed. Typically, our inspectors will take 6-12 minutes per door to gather all of the information needed to produce a thorough fire door survey report. This information then allows us to understand and scope the extent of necessary remedial work.
Can WGP Maintenance fix the issues identified in a fire door survey?
Our BM Trada-certified team holds the necessary expertise to complete any remedial work or replacements required to bring your fire doors up to a compliant standard. We can also work with you on an ongoing basis to conduct high-quality and cost-effective fire door maintenance.
How often should a fire door survey be conducted?
Fire door surveys should be conducted on a regular basis, with British Standards guidelines recommending that doors be inspected every 6 months. However, the exact frequency of your fire door inspections will depend on the way your buildings or premises are used. You can read more about this here.
